Monkey's Magic Pipe
Long ago, in a faraway forest, lived a monster. He lived in a cave of bones.
He was huge.
He was hairy.
He was hungry.
 
One morning, the Monster went into the forest with his hunting bag. He sang in his horrible voice, “I’m going to eat you. Wait and see. I’m the Monster. Beware of me!”
 
Snake slid away. Parrot flew off. Panther hid. The Monster went to the drinking pool. He sat and waited. He had hairy arms for catching. He had big, yellow teeth for crunching. “I am the best at waiting,” he said.
 
As he sat in a bush by the pool, he sang in his horrible voice, “I‘m going to eat you. Wait and see. I’m the Monster. Beware of me!”
 
Snake was first to come to drink. As she slid into the pool, the Monster pounced. “Got you!” shouted the Monster. “Into my bag,” Snake was trapped.
 
Parrot was next to come to the pool. As he flew down, the Monster grabbed him. “Got you!”shouted the Monster. “Into my bag,” Parrot was trapped.
 
Then Panther slipped out of the shadows. He was strong, but the Monster was stronger.“Got you!”shouted the Monster. “Into my bag,” Even Panther was trapped.
 
“I shall eat them all,” roared the Monster, as he set off back to his cave of bones. The bag bumped along behind him. “I am the best at hunting!” he said.
 
The Monster saw Monkey sitting under a tree. “Yum,” he said “Pudding!” Monkey had a pipe in her little paw. She looked at the hunting bag.
 
Monkey knew her friends were inside, but she was clever and had an idea to set them free. “Monster,” she called ,” you are the best dancer in the forest. This new tune is just for you.”
 
“I must be the best dancer,” said the Monster, “because I am the best at everything.” He pointed his hairy toe. “Play for me,” he said.
 
Monkey played and the Monster danced. Then Monkey stopped. “It’s no good,” she said sadly. “What a pity. You dance so well.”
 
“What do you mean?” roared the Monster. “ You need a partner.” said Monkey.
 
“I have one,” said the Monster ,and dragged Snake out of his bag.
 
The Monster put Snake around his neck and danced and danced.
“Good ,” said Monkey. “Now change partners.”
 
The Monster opened his bag again and took out Parrot. Snake slid away.
 
Parrot just flapped and screeched. He was not a good dancer. The Monster had to dance around him. “I am the best at dancing.” the Monster said.
 
“Change partners,” called Monkey. The Monster opened his bag again. He pulled Panther out by his tail.
Parrot flew off.
Panther struggled and snapped.
The Monster danced faster and faster. He stamped his hairy feet and clicked his claws.
 
“Change partners,” called Monkey.
Panther sprang into the bushes. The Monster looked in his hunting bag. “My bag is empty,” he roared. The leaves shook on every tree.
 
The Monster chased Monkey, puffing and panting. But he was so tired he could hardly sing his song…
 
“I’m going to eat you. Wait and see. I’m the Monster. Beware of me!”
“Not today,” said Monkey. “Today, Monkey is the best of all!” Monkey skipped away, playing her pipe. And all the animals who heard it danced.
 
And what happened to the Monster?
He was so tired, he lay down in his cave of bones and snored until the bones rattled.
If you ever find his cave… Don’t go in!

梁敬棋是一位非常有个性的同学,进入录音棚后不仅没有紧张,反而非常淡定。活泼好动的梁敬棋很快就在活动现场结交到新的朋友。正在大家好奇梁敬棋同学会为大家讲述什么故事的时候,她一开口就用出色的发音让老师们为她默默竖了大拇指。我们一起听听她的录音成果吧!

21天阅读打卡活动的体会是?

敬棋姥姥:
记得一年半之前,读写是敬棋英语能力的短板。来到E PLUS北外壹佳英语之后,我们遇到了几位非常负责的教学老师。老师会要求孩子朗读、背诵故事,还会为家长们提供吸引孩子的读物。帮助我们培养孩子“讲故事”的习惯。借此契机,敬棋把书上喜欢的故事都背了一遍,从而提升了阅读能力。
敬棋在阅读过程中不免会遇到生词,一旦不认识的单词多了则会直接影响阅读兴趣。后来老师开始带领孩子记忆单词拼写、每周都坚持听写。在老师的指导下,孩子词汇量逐渐提高。这让孩子阅读时减少了许多障碍,从而提高了阅读正确率。
 21天阅读打卡活动是对我们在E PLUS北外壹佳英语学习的一次检验。

录音准备过程中有什么趣事吗?
敬棋姥姥:
敬棋被选中参加录音是一个意外的惊喜。
一开始敬棋想朗读的故事与其他同学准备的故事重复,需要更换。而备选故事里,她不认识的单词比较多,时间紧迫,敬棋产生了放弃的想法。
我们开始鼓励她,告诉她要学会享受录音的过程,重在参与。受到鼓励的敬棋开始练习朗读新的故事。刚开始的两天,她尝试着顺读文章,后两个晚上故事读通顺了,便带着感情去读。她的自信心又回来了!看来,孩子的可塑性是很大的。

孩子参与录音后有哪些收获呢?
敬棋姥姥:
录制后敬棋拉着我说:“我很开心,也很自豪,原来录音这么好玩,我还想来!”,我问她:“来干嘛呀?”她说:“来录歌儿呀。” 那就继续努力吧,我们一同期待着那天的到来!

对于孩子的成长,有哪些经验分享?
敬棋姥姥:
对于孩子的成长,我们的原则是不要给孩子施加压力,不让她心里有负担,孩子快乐就好。
至于在语言学习上的短板——读写,我们则会想办法吸引孩子的注意,让孩子在不知不觉中有所提升。比如,和敬棋比赛背默英文单词、短句等等。我们通常会在早上和敬棋探讨、预习英文课文的读法;放学后和她沟通老师的授课内容。

只要孩子尽力了,我们就会肯定她的付出,让她知道自己的努力是被重视的。
